Update all packages does not work as expected.

I wondering, why is there no official build-in command to update all packages to the latest version?

I just want to write a command like npm update latest and all deps and dev-deps will be updated to their latest available version. But this does not work.

This command will update all the packages listed to the latest version (specified by the tag config), respecting semver.

How to use it? In my case it does not really update to the latest. I want really the latest version for all packaged. The major, minor, patch. Full version!

NPM should implement the same command / behavior like ncu (npm-check-updates). You know the latest version, just write it to all my packages in my package.json. Easy! It’s lame to install a 3rd party global package to do this. …
