Understanding the npm registry better

(futureisgreat) #1

In the official NPM documentation the next lines are written :

At it’s core, the registry is a [CouchDB app] which serves metadata for all the packages it contains. npm makes it easy to replicate this service by providing 2 services:

** [ http://skimdb.npmjs.com ] (unscoped packages ONLY)*
** [ https://replicate.npmjs.com ] (scoped packages)*

From my experience, i see that the replicate registry have also unscoped packages.
*Does the replicate.npmjs registry holds also the enitre unscoped packages as in skimdb.npmjs?
Thanks

I think you’re right, it should probably be something like “https://replicate.npmjs.com (includes scoped packages)”.
