Unable to deprecate scoped package (get 404)

What I Wanted to Do

I tried to deprecate the scoped package @financial-times/n-jsonp and ran
npm deprecate @financial-times/n-jsonp@'2.4.1' "This package is no longer supported. Please consider using something else for your project"

I’ve also tried a number of other commands following the information in the docs e.g. trying to pick up the latest version with
npm deprecate @financial-times/n-jsonp "This package is no longer supported. Please consider using something else for your project"

What Happened Instead

I got a 404 error (Not Found - PUT https://registry.npmjs.org/@financial-times%2Fn-jsonp - Not found).

Reproduction Steps

I don’t know how someone can reproduce this without admin rights on this package…

Details

This link is reachable in the browser, so there appears to be a bug at the registry end.
