What I Wanted to Do

background-color: rgba( $mainBlue, 0.5 ); /* Note space after opening parenthesis.

What Happened Instead

result: background-color: rgba( #2f5572, 0.5 );

Reproduction Steps

By removing the space after the opening parenthesis the result was as expected
background-color: rgba(47,85,114, 0.5 );
