npm suggests github for bugs

cli

(Andreas Kohn) #1

What I Wanted to Do

Report a bug with npm 5.6.0 in Github, as requested by npm:

npm ERR! This is an error with npm itself. Please report this error at:
npm ERR! <https://github.com/npm/npm/issues>

What Happened Instead

I learned that the github issues are no longer “active”, and I should report bugs here.

Reproduction Steps

Run npm 5.6.0 and trigger a bug that makes it suggest to report it.

Details

I’m fine with your choice of bug tracker, but I’d like to ask you to release a new version so that when installing npm (via NodeJS’s installer) one gets the correct pointer for reporting bugs.

Very related to npm cli: Update banner links to non-existent github release.

This is already fixed in the latest version of npm. There’s nothing we can do about older versions, but npm/npm redirects people to this place now
