Error when installing NPM manually

I am trying to install NPM on a system where I don’t have root access using the script node-and-npm-in-30-seconds-sh

Everything works OK until I run the install.sh, where I get the following error:

It failed

Do you have any suggestion? Is it because my environment is not configured correctly?
