Accessing files stored outside src folder Angular 6

I am trying to access an image stored in node modules folder in app.component.html using the “src” attribute of “img” tag. The path of the image is given as value of “src” attribute. Accessing the image this way throws an error - “Unable to find resource”, because by default, compiler looks for images in “src” folder.

I face the same issue while accessing style sheets located in node modules folder.

I am using angular 6.

Is there any file that i need to edit to change this default behaviour?
